The Ukraine special issue, “Tempus fugit, Academia sempiternal” (Time passes, the academy is eternal), was conceived during a visit to the University of Glasgow by Hanna Volkova, Marta Wynnycka, Natalia Demianchuk, and Natalia Starynska.

We would like to thank them for their visit, and their friendship, and all the authors who have been generous in sharing their stories of teaching and living during wartime in Ukraine in this special issue.

We would also like to thank Larysa Chovnyuk, Charlotte Kedslie, and Kvit Serhiy Myronovych at the NaUKMA International Office for helping to make the visit happen, and everyone at the University of Glasgow who made our visitors so welcome, and who shared their academic practice during the visit.

A special thanks to Julie Hulme (Professor of Psychology), who wrote our editorial, and our Academic Development colleague Katharine Terrell, for the insightful introductions to the three parts of this special issue. Both Julie and Katharine were invited to contribute on the basis of their expertise in inclusive and trauma-informed practice. Thanks to both for their editorial contributions.

We wish our Ukrainian colleagues light and hope during these dark times.

“Tempus fugit, Academia sempiternal.”
